Monitor Web Sites and Network Connections - MetaPing

Posted by Todd Binder | Filed under

MetaPing is a easy, visual tool that continously pings specific IP addresses and graphs the result. You can add numerious IPs or domain names, and set the interval and scale for each graph. I used this to help diagnose some internet connection problems I was having the other day.

Convert .NRG file to .ISO in Windows

Posted by Todd Binder | Filed under

I found an old .NRG file, which is a proprietary CD image file format from Nero.  I wasn't having any luck with tools to convert this file to an .ISO (or even extract the files).

I ended up finding a ImgBurn, a free software tool that was able to read the .NRG file and burn it to CD.  Then, for safe keeping, I used ImgBurn to read the new CD and save the contents in the more future-proof .ISO format.

Posted by Todd Binder | Filed under

MIT grad student David Merrill demos Siftables -- cookie-sized, computerized tiles you can stack and shuffle in your hands. These future-toys can do math, play music, and talk to their friends, too. Is this the next thing in hands-on learning?
